It was a dream since childhood that growing up was to become a doctor. Studied diligently. She used to be lost in studies separately from other children. Papa would say, “Son, to become a doctor, one has to study a lot. Being a doctor is that easy. I was papa's darling. Whatever she said, she would believe it. Read a lot I got completely focused. Completed MBBS from NRSMCH Kolkata. Then completed the studies of Pediatrician MD. But I wanted to do specialty in this area further.
Accident on Delhi-Agra Express Highway
Had to take enrollment in DM Neonatology. The exam was on 15th December 2013. My preparation was good. The center was in Delhi. After giving the exam, a plan was made with friends to go to Agra for a walk. It was the morning of 16 December. Capital covered in fog. We left early in the morning. There was mist on the Delhi-Agra Express Highway. Nothing was visible at a distance of a few meters. Our car was leaving. Then the car collided with a bus. The collision was so severe that the car blew up. The friend who was driving in the front seat died on the spot. I was sitting in the back seat.

I was so badly injured in the accident that for several days I did not know what had happened to me. Who took me out of the car, took me to the hospital, when I regained consciousness, I do not know. My spinal cord was damaged. It was later learned that it was the passers-by who took me to the hospital. I was covered in blood. After the incident, people somehow called Papa. By the time my father arrived, an acquaintance living in Agra arrived and my treatment started. In this way she remained in the hospital for six months.
Sometimes life seems burdensome during treatment.
I am a doctor, I know what happened to me. The treatment was long. But it was very difficult to bear all this. During the treatment, sometimes life seems to be burdensome. Papa and brother gave support
Father and brother supported in such difficult times. He was always with you during the treatment. Time and again assured that your dreams are not dead. You can do whatever you thought. This is how I got boosted. I was finally discharged after being in the hospital for six months. Reached Ranchi from Delhi. I was in a wheelchair. Came to her hometown for the first time in a wheelchair. Never thought this would happen.
Joined Pediatrics again in RIMS
Before the accident, I was working as a Senior Resident in the Department of Paediatrics at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences. After six months I reached RIMS again. I was returned repeatedly saying that I am in a wheelchair, how will I treat the patients. But I didn't give up. I said that give me a chance, I will prove that despite being handicapped, there will be no shortage in my work. After a lot of struggle, I was put back in the job.
Papa designed a special car for me
Papa got a Maruti Omni van specially designed for going to the hospital. It had a wheelchair lift system. I started going to the hospital in this car. There she herself would come down with the wheelchair through the ramp. She would go to her ward and see the patients. People were surprised to see all this. Later, slowly I heard people saying, Doctor with wheel chair.
E-Sanjeevani linked to online OPD in Kovid period
Many challenges were faced during the Kovid period. On the orders of the director, I joined the online OPD of e-Sanjeevani. During this, I myself became Kovid positive twice. Not only did she get herself treated, she continued to treat the patients as well. In two and a half years I have seen more than 10 thousand patients online. This was a new experience for me. Talked to distant patients. understood his pain. Many times patients also contacted from other countries.
Family always together in crisis
Whatever I am today is because of my family. My brother's name is Mannu, but he is like a friend. His family is settled too. I play a lot with his kids. I pour love on them. Papa M Singh continues to encourage me as always.
